Cultural & Wine Tours
Six days in the corner of Europe where wooden churches, carved gates, haymaking by hand and Sunday dress are still part of ordinary life.
Because this is the Romania that existed before mass tourism, and it will not stay like this forever.
The sound of church bells across a valley, the smell of hay and woodsmoke, and the warmth of people who are proud of how they live.
UNESCO wooden churches, the Merry Cemetery of Săpânța, craftspeople, village markets and meals cooked the old way.
In Maramureș many families still farm the way their grandparents did. We travel slowly, stay in a family guesthouse and spend our days with people rather than rushing between sights.
This is a gentle journey, with short drives and easy walks.
Transfer from the airport to a family guesthouse in the valley.
Bârsana and the wooden churches of the valley, with a local guide.
Haymaking season or winter customs, depending on the month; lunch with a local family.
A woodcarver, a weaver and the painted crosses of the Merry Cemetery.
A village market if it is on, a last walk and a farewell dinner.
Transfer to the airport.
We take care of everything: flights, transfers, accommodation, meals, a bilingual guide, and the small details you only notice when they're missing.
We travel in small groups, with local partners we know personally, and one point of contact before you fly and throughout your trip.
Available as a small-group journey on set dates or as a private journey on your own dates. Best seasons: April–June and September–October.

Our small-group journeys are designed to keep the experience personal and relaxed. Group sizes and any specific requirements will be clearly stated for each departure.
If you are unsure whether a particular journey is right for you, please contact us before booking. We are happy to explain the itinerary, walking requirements, transport, accommodation, pace and anything else you would like to know.
