Most visitors see Bran, Peleș and Sighișoara, and they are worth seeing. But the Romania our guests talk about for years is usually somewhere else: a village with no souvenir shop, a winemaker who pours his own wine, a grandmother who insists you take a second helping.
These places depend on respectful visitors. We travel in small numbers, we pay our hosts fairly, and we come back to the same families year after year. Local connection is the difference between visiting a place and being welcomed into it.
