Finding a family village
Time built in to locate and properly visit a specific village, with a guide who can help ask around if needed.
For those returning to their roots — and for families who want to share Romania with the next generation.
For the Romanian diaspora and families with roots here — a first return, or a chance to share Romania with the next generation. Built around your own family story rather than a fixed route, so the trip means something beyond sightseeing.
For many people with Romanian roots, a first return trip is about more than sightseeing — it's about finding a family village, standing where grandparents once lived, or sharing that place with children who have only heard about it. These journeys are built around your own family story: the regions your family came from, the traditions you grew up hearing about, and the connections that might still be there.
Every heritage journey is tailor-made, because every family's story is different. Some travellers arrive with a village name and little else; others have detailed family history already researched. Either way, the itinerary is shaped around what you know and what you're hoping to find.
Heritage journeys suit:
Time is left deliberately unhurried, because these visits often carry more weight than an ordinary sightseeing stop, and a bilingual guide travels with you to help make sense of what you find.
Heritage trips run as a private journey for your own family or group, shaped entirely around your own story.
A bilingual guide who can help navigate a village, ask questions on your behalf and make sense of what you find there.
A base chosen close to the region your family came from, so you're not spending the day travelling to and from it.
An itinerary built around the specific places that matter to your family, not a general tour of the region.
Plenty of unhurried time built in, because finding a family village or a family story is rarely something to rush through.
One person works with you before the trip to understand your family's story and plans the visit around it.
Examples only — every journey is shaped around your dates, pace and interests.

For families with roots in this part of Argeș, a visit to the town and surrounding villages near the Carpathians.
A visit to a traditional wooden house and farmstead, to see the kind of setting many Romanian families once lived in.
Quiet time to look through records or gravestones where a family connection is being traced.
A folk music and dance evening, giving younger family members a living sense of traditions they've only heard described.
For families with roots in the region, time at one of Bucovina's painted monasteries, still central to local life.
A heritage journey can't be planned off a template, so we start with a conversation about what you know — a village name, a region, a family name — however little or much that is.
