Spring blossom, golden autumns and snowy villages — why Romania is worth discovering in every season.
Most visitors come in July and August. That is when Romania is at its busiest — and often at its hottest. Our favourite seasons are quieter.
April and May
Green hills, blossom in the orchards, lambs in the fields and Easter traditions in the villages. The mountain roads may still be closed at the top, but the valleys are glorious.
September and October
Our favourite. The harvest, the grape picking, golden forests in the Carpathians and mild days that are perfect for walking. The Transfăgărășan is usually open until the end of October, depending on the weather.
November and December
Christmas markets in Sibiu and Brașov, village carols and winter customs in Maramureș and Bucovina. Short days, long dinners, and a warm welcome.
Summer
Still beautiful, and the best time for the high mountain roads and the Danube Delta. We plan summer journeys around early starts and quiet places.
In short: come when Romania is quieter. You will see more of it.
