Romania, through people who know and love it

A small family-run company. We plan slow, personal trips in Romania.

Who we are

Romania Soul Tours is a small, family-run travel company. We only do one country: Romania.

We plan slow, personal trips. You can join a small group of up to 12 people, or travel privately, with a trip made just for you.

Who is behind it

Nick founded the company. He has worked for years in hotels, restaurants and travel agencies, in the UK, Romania, Malta, Greece, Croatia and Dubai. His family comes from Câmpulung Muscel, at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains.

When you write to us, Nick and our small team answer. There is no call centre.

How we travel

  • Small groups. Never more than 12 guests.
  • Comfortable transport. A private vehicle with a driver. Airport transfers are included.
  • Local guides. In English and Romanian, and in other languages on request.
  • Places to stay chosen one by one. Small hotels and family guesthouses, picked for their hosts and their story.
  • A gentle pace. Short drives and free time every day.

How we travel

Meet Nick, the person behind Romania Soul Tours

I'm Nick. My family's roots are in Câmpulung Muscel, a small town at the foot of the Carpathians, and Romania has never stopped being home.

I started Romania Soul Tours because I wanted travellers from abroad to see the Romania I know: slow, generous, full of stories, and full of people who set an extra plate at the table without being asked.

When you travel with us, you are not a booking number. You will hear from me before you fly, and you can call me while you are on the road.

What we do that you never see

The difference between a trip and a journey you remember is in the small things.

We check the rooms

We visit guesthouses and hotels ourselves: the rooms, the breakfast, the walk to the door.

We drive the routes

We know how long a road really takes, where the coach can park and where the good coffee is.

We plan the pauses

Time for photos, a coffee and a rest, especially when grandparents or children travel with us.

We always have a plan B

Bad weather, a closed road, a museum under repair: the alternative is already prepared.

We work with local people

Guides, hosts and craftspeople who know their place and love sharing it.

We answer the phone

Not a call centre. A person, before, during and after your journey.

What our travellers say

★★★★★
“This april I had an absolutely wonderful experience with Romania Soul Tours, and I can truly recommend them to anyone looking to discover the beauty and authenticity of Romania. From the very beginning, everything felt personal and carefully organized. Our guide was a incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable and passionate person who clearly loves what he does. He specializes in private tours in small groups, which makes the whole experience intimate and special. It never felt rushed or overly “touristic”. It felt like traveling with a friend who knows the country inside out. On top of that, the activities he arranged were truly original and memorable. We wanted a mix of history, sport and top attractions- and we got exactly what we expected. Thanks to our guide we didn’t just see Romania- we felt it, understood it, and fell in love with it. It’s a place we will definitely return to, and when we do, we won’t hesitate to travel with Romania Soul Tours again. An unforgettable experience from start to finish!”

“This spring we had the opportunity to discover Romania with Romania Soul Tours and the experience was very positive. It is definitely a recommended option for those who want to get to know the country in a more intimate and authentic way. From the very beginning, you could see the care for organization and attention to detail. Our guide was very attentive, had extensive knowledge and a passion for sharing his culture. In our small group, there was a free and pleasant atmosphere, far from the crowds on the tours. Instead of feeling like a typical tourist, we felt more like a traveler with a friend. The attractions also made a difference: they were well planned, diverse and unconventional. We wanted to combine culture, a bit of activity and visiting cultural sites, and the result exceeded our expectations. We can't wait for the return! ❤️”
